The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) provides geological information and expertize for industry and society to promote the systematic and sustainable use of mineral resources. GTK serves as Finland’s national geoscientific information centre and actively participates in international R&I projects.
GTK’s core activities are economic geology, exploration, geophysics, information technology, mineral processing and mine environment studies, with a strong research effort focused on the analysis of geological processes and mineral systems, as well as the development of exploration and benefication technologies. GTK runs the only mineral processing pilot plant in Europe.
GTK is promoting mineral exploration and mining in Finland, and is actively involved in the development of mineral policy in Finland and Europe. The mining sector forms the most important customer group to which GTK provides confidential expertise in economic geology, exploration, mineral processing and sustainable mining, both in Finland and internationally.
